Special invitation to PCFR members to hear State Department planning chief in Newport
The State Department's policy planning director, David McKean, will candidly discuss the immense foreign-policy challenges facing the United States at an off-the-record session run by the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21. Among the topics likely to come up: Extremism in the Middle East, a refugee crisis engulfing Europe, Russian aggression in Ukraine, and an island-building campaign in the South China Sea.
At the U.S. Department of State, there is one official responsible for seeing beyond the headlines, making sense of events, and devising strategy for this world: the director of policy planning.
This event is off the record and closed to the general public but open to PCFR members. For details and if you'd like to attend, please email the firstname.lastname@example.org or call (401) 341-2927
